Withdrawal/Refund Policy

Paper-based testing. If after registering for the GACE you wish to withdraw from one or more tests for which you have registered, you must submit your request through your account on the GACE Web site by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the late registration deadline, or the regular registration deadline for the May and July 2013 supplemental administrations. Refer to "Changing Your Registration for Paper-Based Testing" for information about how to withdraw from a test.

If your request is submitted by 5:00 p.m. eastern time on the late registration deadline (or the regular registration deadline for the May and July supplemental administration), you will receive a partial refund in the amount of

The registration processing fee and the supplemental administration fee (for the May, July, and August 2013 supplemental administrations) will not be refunded. If you registered during the late registration period, the late registration fee will not be refunded. Refunds will be issued approximately five weeks after the test date.

You may not withdraw your registration or receive a refund if you register during the emergency registration period. If you are absent from the test, you will not receive a refund or credit of any kind. (See the absentee policy in "Reporting to the Test Site for Paper-Based Testing.")

Computer-based testing. If after registering for a GACE computer-based test you wish to withdraw your registration, you may do so by completing and submitting a Withdrawal/Refund Request Form for Computer-Based Testing before scheduling your test appointment.

If you have already scheduled your test appointment, you must first cancel your test appointment through your account at least 24 hours before your scheduled testing time. Then, to withdraw your registration, you must complete and submit a Withdrawal/Refund Request Form for Computer-Based Testing.

Refer to "Changing Your Registration for Computer-Based Testing" for information about how to cancel a test appointment or submit a Withdrawal/Refund Request Form for Computer-Based Testing.

If your original registration was for more than one test within an assessment, withdrawal of the registration will apply to all tests selected at the time of registration. You may not withdraw from or receive a refund for only one test if your original registration was for multiple tests.

If you withdraw your registration before you have scheduled your test appointment or if you cancel your test appointment at least 24 hours before your scheduled testing time and then withdraw your registration, you will receive a refund in the amount of $20 less than the total fees paid for that registration. Your refund will be issued by Evaluation Systems within four weeks of your request.

If you are absent from the test, you will not receive a refund or credit of any kind. (See the absentee policy in "Reporting to the Test Site for Computer-Based Testing.")

Payment Methods

The fees for Internet registration, telephone registration, and changes to registration made on the Internet must be paid using a credit card (VISA or MasterCard only) or a debit or check card that carries the VISA or MasterCard logo and that can be used without the entry of a personal identification number (PIN). Bank cards without a VISA or MasterCard logo cannot be accepted. The merchant name that will appear on your credit card statement is "Eval Systems Test Fee."

The fees for registration by U.S. mail and changes to registration submitted by mail must be paid by personal check; cashier's check; money order; or credit, debit, or check card (VISA or MasterCard only). Fees for rescoring a test and for additional copies of test results must be paid by personal check, cashier's check, or money order. Checks and money orders must be made payable to Evaluation Systems in U.S. dollars. Please write the last five digits of your social security number on your payment. Do not send cash.

Payment Policies

If you register to take the same test on multiple test dates and pass the test on the first test date, you will not be issued a refund for your additional registrations on the basis of your passing performance.

If you have any outstanding balance owed by you to Evaluation Systems after a test administration for which you were registered, all of your scores for that test date may be permanently voided and therefore not reported to you, to the GaPSC, or to any institutions.

The following policies apply to you when you have an outstanding balance with Evaluation Systems:

If a credit card charge for an Evaluation Systems service for you is disputed:

Additionally, if a personal check submitted by you is returned by the bank:

Testing on Consecutive Test Dates (paper-based testing only)

If the score report date for a paper-based test administration falls after the regular or late registration deadline for the next paper-based test administration, the GACE program offers a fee waiver provision for those examinees who fail a test and who wish to take the same test or tests at the next consecutive paper-based test administration. The chart below describes the 2012–2013 fee waivers for the GACE program.

Test Date Late Registration
Fee Waiver?
Emergency Registration
Fee Waiver?
October 13, 2012 Yes No
January 5, 2013 No No
March 23, 2013 No No
May 4, 2013 No No
June 15, 2013 No Yes
August 17, 2013 Yes No

If you register on the Internet during the late or emergency registration period, or by phone during the emergency registration period, your status as a consecutive test date retaker will be confirmed and your late or emergency registration fee will be waived. If you register by mail during the late registration period and you qualify for the late registration fee waiver as outlined above, pay only the regular registration test fees—do not pay the late registration fee. When your registration is processed, your status as a consecutive test date retaker will be confirmed.

If you plan to register for consecutive test dates and require alternative testing arrangements, please call (800) 523-7064 or (413) 256-2894 as soon as possible to discuss your request for alternative testing arrangements. This is necessary to allow the maximum amount of time to process your request. Because of time and logistical issues, it may not be possible to grant some requests for alternative testing arrangements made by individuals who register for a consecutive test date during the late or emergency registration period.
